Have your say on Hedingham route 87

***Very important*** Have your say on Hedingham route 87 between #Brightlingsea, #Wivenhoe, Colchester University and #Colchester.

Hedingham Omnibus has been the local bus operator on route 87, providing a 30 minute frequency service between Brightlingsea and Colchester during Monday to Saturday daytimes from early in the morning, with less frequent buses up to 2300 from Colchester and Sunday buses too. We replaced unsuccessful routes operated by First and a local coach company.

In the autumn of 2016 we got things badly wrong and ended up with too few drivers and an impractical timetable so that the service was both unreliable and unpunctual. We were not surprised to find that some of you, including councillors, asked First to step in and see if they could do any better. Regardless of all this history we have set up a driver training school to offer new skills to local people so that they can come and drive our buses.

We reviewed our timetable and fares to offer a more punctual service and a more attractive deal on fares and we have tried to continue to deliver a punctual service. We also continue to offer early morning, evening and Sunday buses which First does not. We are also introducing m-ticketing. However, the route runs at a loss and we can’t go on like that.

So we thought we’d ask you why you think a lot of people (perhaps including you) are using First instead, despite the additional times we run. Simply fill out the feedback form below to have your say on how we can improve this service. Hedingham Review
