Clacton area: New times and fares for routes 74, X76, 97 and 98
You may have heard that First in Essex has withdrawn its service on these routes. First will continue to operate certain evening and Sunday journeys in the Clacton area under contract to Essex County Council.
The good news is that Hedingham has stepped in to take over the routes so you will not lose your bus service.

Frinton Day Faresaver
Adult Day ticket £3.50, 16-19 £2.80, Child £2.40.
Family day ticket - just £6!
Valid between Walton on the Naze, Frinton and Kirby Cross.
Walton & Clacton day ticket
Adult £5, 16-19 £4, Child £3.30.
Valid on route 97 & 98 between Walton on the Naze and Clacton, plus the Clacton Town Zone which includes Jaywick, St Osyth, Bockings Elm, Little Clacton and Great Clacton. Click here for more information. *

Our New Routes
Routes 97 and 98
These routes will run between Clacton and Walton, up to every 20 minutes.
There will be slightly fewer buses running than before and the timetable will vary at peak times and on Sundays so ensure you check our timetable before you leave the house.
The 98 will run at a different time within the hour, but this a temporary timetable which has been set to run during the Winter period.
First Essex will continue to operate routes 7/8/100 evening journeys (see 97/98 timetable) between Clacton and Walton. These journeys are operated under contract to Essex County Council so valid Hedingham tickets will be accepted.
We will run extra journeys on this route, including one via the University during commuting times, to replace First’s route 97.
First Essex will continue to operate route 76 on Sundays & bank holidays (see 76/X76 timetable) between Clacton and Colchester via Wivenhoe. These journeys are operated under contract to Essex County Council so valid Hedingham tickets will be accepted.

We are replacing route 98 between Colchester and Clacton via Wivenhoe and St Osyth with the number 74 bus.
It will run, on average, every hour during the day but times will vary so please check the timetable.
Buses will continue to Head Street and the High Street to give you better access into Colchester town centre and we will run a Sunday bus but the times will vary slightly.
First Essex will continue to operate route 74B on Mondays to Saturdays evenings (see 74 timetable) between Clacton and Colchester via St Osyth. These journeys are operated under contract to Essex County Council so valid Hedingham tickets will be accepted.
