- X76 Jaywick - Clacton - Weeley - Frating - Elmstead Market - Colchester
Hedingham buses is launching new “Seasiders” route X76 between Colchester and Clacton on 30th May - in time for the school half term. Buses will run every 30 minutes during most of the day direct from Colchester town centre via the A133, providing a more frequent service through Elmstead Market, Weeley and Little Clacton. And during the first week – up to 3rd June its only £1 a ride – ideal for a visit to the seaside at Clacton or historic Colchester.
Regular prices will start the following week, but the new Seasiders ticket will offer travel for £6.50 per day, £20 per week or £60 per month. There are great discounts available for children and all young people under 20, and a family ticket for just £10. All these Seasider tickets offer unlimited travel on not only the X76 but the 87 to Brightlingsea and all Hedingham’s town buses – 130 to 137.
Seasider double deck buses will sport a bright new Seasiders logo and free wi-fi (so you can surf on the way and on the beach!), and will also appear on the popular regular route 87 to the seaside at Brightlingsea, which is also being changed to follow a simpler route around the town. The familiar red buses are crewed by local people from the company’s Clacton-on-Sea depot.
Hedingham Omnibus is so convinced people will see the X76 as a great step forward for public transport that up to 1st July they are offering anyone with a rail ticket to Weeley or Clacton stations valid on that day, or a First Month ticket valid in that area to try out the new route free of charge – and that’s even free of charge for the wi-fi.
